I agree with some of the comments here....not sure if I buy the idea that Obama was winking at the Palestinians while giving Israel dozens more free warplanes to batter civilians with...and even if I did....symbolism tends not to fare very well in battle against F35 warplanes or a juggernaut military complex. I'll take substance and you can give symbolism to the other guy

Not sure I buy all this. The pushing of free information may be good for the Green movement in Iran, but deliberately snubbing the Israeli PM was a bad idea. Netanyaho really won't care about Obama and his agenda and will do what he wants if he feels as though he doesn't have the US support. Just saying.

Thinking about this. Obama's door is propped wide open supposedly trying to encourage the wild beast of Iran to come in for a civilised chat. At the same time, US is openly publicising this "free" internet access intention. How can these goals be reconciled?
{Please send symbolic pizza roll to usual address. TY)

I think what's really impressive, Lis, is that these aren't convenient contradictions, or mistakes, or changes in policy, but these are deliberate symbolic gestures to play both sides at the same time. With Iran, there are several interpretations of this move. The one I go for is this; Obama does not expect Ahmadinejad to negotiate on anything, but by opening the door for diplomacy he hopes to encourage the reformers to get to the table. Of course, he'd love regime change, but he doesn't want to count on it, and unlike Bush he doesn't want to cause the regime change himself. This Obama guy, crazy like a fox.

By the way, to really understand the "pizza roll" comment, and the waste/enrich your life, you really need to spend the next 70 minutes of your life watching this series of videos, and then go on to Episode 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxKtZmQgxrI

The pizza rolls are in the email. They may get stuck in my CD drive, so if you don't get them just hit me up.
